Announcing Faculty Networking Events for the Cluster Hire Program in December and January:

The Provost's Office, in conjunction with the Research Office, has announced a Faculty Cluster Hire Program (see the Request for Cluster Suggestions document here). The Program involves a multi-stage process that may lead to the hiring of one or more clusters of faculty around specific research areas beginning in FY21.  More information on the program can be found on the Cluster Hire Program website:  http://hanniuzx.com/cluster-hire-program/

The first stage in the process is a series of Faculty Networking Events where faculty can share their research interests and discuss ideas for clusters.

Because successful clusters are likely to be those that involve disciplines that cross departments and schools, it will be essential for faculty to connect in order to share ideas and jointly develop cluster proposals. The purpose of the Faculty Networking Events is to allow faculty to describe their areas of research interest and expertise and to permit time for faculty to mingle, network, and discuss areas of shared or related interest. So whether you’re are interested in sharing your work or in hearing what others are doing, please plan on attending one or more of these events.

Details on the Networking Events:

There will be three events:

  • Friday, December 13, 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Oakland Center Ambassador rooms A & B
  • Friday, January 10, 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Oakland Center Founders Ballroom East (C)
  • Thursday, January 16, 12:00-2:00 p.m. in the Oakland Center Founders Ballroom West (C)

Light refreshments will be provided

If you're interested in presenting your research interests, please:

  • prepare 2-3 slides for a 3 minute talk about your research and ideas
  • send them to Leanne DeVreugd at ldevreug@oakland.edu (Presentations will be accepted on a rolling basis for presentation across the 3 events; up to 50 presentations will be accepted)
  • sign up here:

The goal for the networking sessions is to understand how you and your colleagues might be able to collaborate.  Some suggestions for topics to address in your slides:

CAYUSE RESEARCH SUITE

As part of Oakland University's ongoing commitment to supporting faculty scholarship and growing funded research, we have upgraded our research administration software to the Cayuse Research Suite. This software solution will allow faculty investigators to submit and manage grant proposals in a web-based and user-friendly environment.* Chairs and deans will be able to approve proposals for submission and obtain real-time pictures of research activity in their departments. The software will enable all of this and more while also reducing administrative burdens. Please note that this system is for external proposals and not internal awards.

明升体育-电视直播Training sessions are required of research-active faculty who plan to submit grants, and will be offered again in Winter 2020. If you need immediate assistance with Cayuse, contract your grant officer in the Research Office.

明升体育-电视直播*A note about IRB and Cayuse: Our new system will eventually have an IRB module, however, please continue to use IRBNet and/or RAM as appropriate until this module is live. (updated 1/15/19)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ANNOUNCING ARMS - Advanced Research Methodology Services

The Research Office is launching Advanced Research Methodology Services (ARMS), which aims to help faculty improve the quality of the research design and data analysis sections of their grant proposals. The ARMS team will assist with research and analysis upon receipt of funding. We are in the process of building an ARMS team, and are seeking faculty to serve as methodological consultants in areas of their expertise. Contact ARMS Coordinator Dennis Condron to join the team, or to access ARMS for assistance with your own proposal.
